A Fountain Shall
Come Forth was conceived and watercolored during
a woman's' retreat, May 2003 at Glen Eyrie
in Colorado Springs, CO. The fountain
is modeled from the fountain which sits in
the courtyard of the beautiful Castle. "As I
sketched the fountain the water splashed on
my skirt and kept me cool for the day. I
joined the women who were already in worship
upstairs in "The Great Room". Sitting on the
floor, I sketched them gathering under the
fountain, which I could hear flowing, just
outside the window. At the final worship
session I poured paint into the background
and saw amazing things happen with this
piece. I love that I do not have to paint
alone--that I am partnering with the Holy
Spirit. The watercolor often goes beyond the
limits I set for it. It seems to move on my
paper, under the direction of Another. I am
simply the caretaker in a exciting
partnership. Sometimes I feel like the
midwife. I finished with lightly painting in
other worshippers on the other side.
